Crank case breather fitting

I'm looking for a crank case breather fitting for my 69 shovel. Located on the case next to the oil pump. The thread is 5/8 -16 and should go to a 3/8 barb or nipple. I've been looking for weeks online and at the hardware store. Anyone know the OEM part number?

Those fittings in general are either 1/8 NPT or 1/4 NPT. I am not certain about your '69 case. The smaller hole just inboard of the oil pump, and down where you can't see it is the primary oil return fitting, not a crankcase breather.

Ok gotcha, yea it's the primary oil return I'm pretty sure. I'll see if I can either of the npt fitting work. Thank you

If you have a local NAPA they carry lots of fittings like that, at least my local NAPA does.

If you got the 16 tpi. from a thread gauge its not pipe thread 1/4" npt. is 18 tpi. and 1/8" npt. is 27 tpi. Did you try a 5/8" X 16 bolt in the hole?

I think you mean 5/16-18 and 5/16-24. The standard 5/8 threads are 11tpi for coarse and 18tpi for fine.

That compression nut pictured above has a 5/8-11 thread.

That vent fitting (Same as the Early Sporties) was a five year run (65-69) for the Big Twins ..
In 1970 it was change to a 3/8" NPT ...
