  • Wireing for dummys question

Ok, ignition switch on bars went to crap on me, tore it apart in the quick shop parking lot and got it back home. The wires were lengthened by previous owner and when i got home i went to trace the ignition switch wire back into the frame so i got less of a wiring mess at the bars, but i noticed they have one if the ignition wires one and start button wire spliced together. Im assuming thats supply power? I want to move to a push button starter anyway. Hows a guy get rid of that split but still get power to everything? Im sure its fairly simple my brains just on a trip right now. Thanks.

After a little more looking sounds like it may be hard to get rid of all the wiring due to the CAN bus setup?

Can you make a simple drawing of what ya got... or what ya think ya got.

if you can help us know what ya got with out us havin' to be guessin', you may get better replies.

'04 does not use CANBUS system, luckily for you. So, chop away.

If you are talking about the run/stop switch on the right hand control, yes, the run/stop switch also provides switched power to the start button. If you want to move the start button, you need only supply it with switched 12V from your ignition switch (or more properly, the ignition or accessory breaker). It doesn't take much current to trigger the starter relay.

Didnt mean to post twice, the green is my ignition wired together, the other is the starter switch itself, the turn signal is same way.
