Hey guys brad from Alabama here.

This is my first attempt at heavily modifying a motorcycle.
My biggest restrictions are budget and the fact it is my only bike and main transportation.
Anyways. Gonna document here. Hope someone gets some entertainment, feel free to share your experience or opinions.

Really trying not to let this look like every other shadow “bobber” buried in Amazon parts.

Gonna do my best to make as many parts as I can. Bought a flux welder and a few other power tools to help me dip my toes into fabrication.

Here his how she came to me:

Shit spring seat (new one on the way) gonna rework the mount too)

Not bad lines. Rear fender is a little bulky and the seat a little small throws the look a little, just me

Ain't just you since artistic proportion has rules. Seat (and rider) would benefit from thicker padding. Rear fender is quite bulky as are the struts. Nice machine overall and that stuff is easy to sort out with other parts while riding what ya got.

Rear swingarm and bottom frame rail both being level looks good. Many builders fail to notice and get a cheap looking brokeback effect which breaks the flow of the chassis. OP got it right.

Nothing is how I want it apart from the carb tune, really itching to put on a narrow tank, a low profile fender and short sissy bar.

Pretty sure I’m gonna go with a 7 inch wide trailer/flat fender. Nice basic low sissy with a kickback.

Lighting needs to be addressed to but gotta wait for sissy bar for tag and taillight.

Biltwell midline used seat landed yesterday with a triumph style hinge from lowbrow that I have plans on modding a bit to get it right.

I appreciate the feedback in these early stages. I’m so thrilled to finally have a bike to wrench on again.

I am also happy with the stance and the exhaust.

Flat fenders lack the conformity to rear wheel curved fenders possess and look unfinished (unless the owner runs a flat tread car tire like the Darksider guys do which work fine for choppers, save money and are quite durable). Best way to picture what yours will look like would be remove the rear fender and strut covers, and posting the exposed frame will give other 33ers an idea what you're working with.

Stock bulbous fender covers too much but flat fenders over round tires are usually a styling discontinuity. There are many fender choices so getting whatever you want is easy-ish,

Just my opinion, but I've never seen a flat fender that looked good.

They all look like exactly what they are- the cheapest fender available.

But it's your bike, so what you want and like are all that matter.

So my plans kinda got derailed. Nailed a large piece of plastic in the rain goin about 50 and smashed her up pretty good.

Decided to pull the trigger on my tank grabbed a frisco mount sportster tank from throttle addiction. Now looking into fenders and coming up with a plan for bending my own sissy bar.

Definitely have rethought the flat fender and am now between a couple more radius fenders on lowbrow.

I also made up so pair valve plates and got those installed. Definitely effected exhaust tone as well as decel pop and I swear it will rev up quicker. But could definitely just be my imagination.





Can’t seem to find hardly any metric top hat bungs just tapped a couple holes in the backbone for the moment and am going to put some bungs in when I put on the fender and sissy bar.

I’ll get you guys some pictures of the frame this weekend so you can see what I’m working with. Hoping to weld up a battery box and get the battery moved down and hung in the swingsrm. this weekend but we will see

I hear you man. A lot of what I planned on my head was the cheapest option possible. Just to get to “completed” state quicker and I have come to the realization I will be ultimately much less happy with the bike if I rush through it. I am going to take my time and do everything exactly how I want. Regardless of it being the cheapest option.

Why do they need to be metric? UNF and UNC will fit with the right size hole and bolt.
